    Working around admin rights

I have an application written which does certain features which require one form or another of admin rights on the computer.

-Read a partion as \\.\c: in windows for example.

Is there a way to get around the need for admin rights, like having an admin ok the use of the applications features forever?

Let's say I need to read a file on the E drive. The user will be able to open a bufferedreader for "e:\filename.txt" but will not be able to open the file "\\.\e:" due to an "access denied" exception.

Now this same user can read in the cd-rom drive with the above method, however. If the cd-rom is drive D, the user has no problems with BufferedReader opening "\\.\d:".

      Any suggestions welcome.
