I think this might be a problem with some library shipped with fc5- I've run into the same error while trying to install the 1.4.2_11 sdk. I'll post again if I figure out how to get it working.
tail: cannot open `+511' for reading: No such file or directoryThat's suggestive. Perhaps FC5 has (again) been playing around with options to the "tail" command? There have been upheavals in the past as they have tried to enforce strict POSIX rules (i.e. no naked +5 or -5, but only -n +5 or -n -5), and then backed away, etc.
Try just something like
tail +1 /etc/hosts
and see if it gives you an error. If it does, then you can either
(a) complain to sun (file a bug report)
(b) read the "man" page for tail, and see if there's some environment variable or something you can set to get the "other" behavior (allowing "tail +5").
The same problem is solved in another thread.
No --> . j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.bin
Yes --> sh j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.bin
I figured out how to fix it. I was trying to install j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.bin like this
I got the error:
Do you agree to the above license terms? [yes or no]
tail: cannot open `bash' for reading: No such file or directory
