CCA Agent Email Setting

While creating an agent in CCA 8.1.3 FP3 or FP4 the documnets suggest that email is not an mandatory option. But when an agent is created the system forces to enter an email id. We are not using email as a media type or agents will never hear any voice mail thru email or phone. Is there any other settings needed to disable email accounts for agents.
