Unable to connect to Planning URL after new instal & configuration 11.1.2

    VenuRamini
I have installed 11.1.2 on Windows 64 bit environment and configured.

      Here is my environment:
Box 1. FS, Essbase, Weblogic, Oracle HTTP. Configured successfully and working great no issues (I have not configured web server in FS yet)
Box 2. Planning. Installation and configuration was successful.

Issue: however unable to connect to URL http://servername:8300/hyperionplanning/logon.jsp and http://servername:19000/hyperionplanning/logon.jsp (I am not expecting 19000 will connect)

      Trobleshooting:
Upon running netstat, 8300 is not running on this box.
Also configured "Manage Planning Cluster" with no luck.
Weblogic (11g) server indicated planning state is unknown.
Diagnostic indicates: 1. system-jazn-data.xml file does not exist 2. web app for planning failed due to Error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
I have stopped and restarted Planning app service several time runs without any issue but unable to connect to URL and no port is running.
Planning log does not reveal any error messages.
EPM system log indicates ServletContainerAdapter manager not initialized correctly
There is no error in start-HyS9Planning-out.log.
start-HyS9Planning-error.log indicates The requested service has already been started.

There is an error in validation log:

Can you connect to the Planning app in Workspace?

Is your Planning service up and running?

If you're trying to connect to port 8300 and you don't see it as active maybe you don't have the service running or have blocked that port.

Try starting up service :- "Hyperion Planning - Web Application"
            Check logs :- <EPM_HOME>\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services - HyS9Planning-sysout.log & HyS9Planning-syserr.log

              Thanks Chris for quick response!.

              1. I have not tried it. What is the URL http://servername:28080/workspace or http://servername:19000/workspace?
              2. Planning service is running (note: it takes about 10 min to start)
              3. Port 8300 is not blocked.

                John, thanks for quick response!

I have restarted Planning and looked at the log file.

                HyS9Planning-sysout.log indicated

The attribute will be re-encrypted. Otherwise, change all encrypted attributes to their cleartext values, then reboot the server. All encryptable attributes will be re-encrypted. Prior to this after reading epm_1112000_readme.pdf file on page 9 (issue 9180347, 8841004) there is known issue of not copying the file to destination location. Followed instruction and that did indicate that userid and pwd was not encrypted.

Make sure the Weblogic password is correct in the boot.properties and restart the services.

The boot.properties files would be present in D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\<ComponentName>\security\boot.properties

                  For example,

                  For APS:
                  D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\AnalyticProviderServices1\security\boot.properties

                  For EAS:
                  D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\EssbaseAdminServices1\security\boot.properties

                  HTH-
                  Jasmine.

                    Jasmine, thanks for your response!

No wonder it was failing. I was putting SS userid and pwd instead of Weblogic userid/pwd.

Will try and let you know.

No it is definitely the weblogic admin account that you set up when you configured foundation, the default username if you didnt change it while configuring is epm_admin.
If you enter the username and password correctly in boot.properties once planning starts up it will update the boot.properties file with an encrypted username/password.

                      Cheers

                        You saved me big time!

You nailed it. Port is running now and page is accessible.

However when I connect, Error 404--Not Found is being displayed.

I have rebooted server and Error 404--Not Found is being displayed when I access planning web.

I have fixed temp file error in JVMOption 3.

My Planning installation is up & running.

The biggest mistake I made was deploying weblogic server to box1 (FS server) instead of Box2 (Planning server). I don't think it was clear in documentation.

Reason for port,8300, not running: userid/password supposed to copied over to server/planning0 folder or boot.properties for planning was screwed up. Once I fix this and restarted server, port was running fine.

                                    Hi,
We are facing a similar with our Planning-new install. Our weblogic is on a different VM, and everytime we access Planning, we get the 404 error.
How do we change the encrypted password in the boot.properties file?
                                    Thanks,
                                    Sujani
