We have installed a 64 bits Sun JDK on a Windows Web Server 2008 SP1 6a bits and encounter problems running a Tomcat 5.5 server :
- only one core is used at a time when launched as a Windows service (the physical server has 2 quad-core processors
- when launched from the startup.bat script Tomcat uses several cores... but several days later it uses a single core!
- we experienced memory leaks on Lucene indexes, and these problems do not occur on Windows Server 2003
Did somebody experienced such problems?
After a look at http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/install/system-configurations.html, we noticed that the JDK does not seem to be qualified for this environment.
But in the "Windows x64 32-bit mode" section, we can find a line for Windows Web Server 2008 SP1. Does it mean we ought to install a 32 bits Sun JDK in this 64 bits system?
