Srange restricment -Xms4g param on fedora10/64-bits with RAM 8g

I have tought with the same problem:
I have run : java -d64 -Xms4g -Xmx8g ... -- and my program will fail with OutOfMemory than memory became more than 4G. But free memore is more than 3G.
      I use linux fedora 10 (64-bits system, RAM 8G), jdk_6u12_linux_x64.bin (download from sun.com).

And i can't run program with java -d64 -Xms5g -Xmx8g. All values of -Xms more than 4G are incorrect. Values of -Xmx every ok, but don't work.
But i can run : java -d64 -Xms8g -version -- It work until Xms less than 8G, and on -Xms9g it will fail.
      What is it may be?
