    Catching VM crash?

This may be a stupid question, seeing that the VM crash underneath the app. But I'll ask in any case.

The a third-party dll that I call from my JNI dll causes an Access Violation and the VM crash with this message:
      #
      # An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
      #
      #  EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x10004590, pid=5140, tid=5332
      #
      # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.6.0_02-b06 mixed mode, sharing)
      # Problematic frame:
      # C  [tungsten_TPBJNI.dll+0x4590]
      #
      # An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid5140.log
      #
      # If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:
      #   http://java.sun.com/webapps/bugreport/crash.jsp
      #
Thus is there any way to exit more elegantly?

      Best regards,
