Anyone can help me for this troubleshooting?
I'm not clear on the problem you're describing as far as what you mean by 'the ambiguous character' or where you're seeing it, but if you're referring to something in the dropdown list where you pick the tnsnames.ora entry, you can just type in any valid connect alias that works in sqlplus rather than using the dropdown.

See if the file type for tnsname.ora is .txt or .ora. Could be that windows is appending .txt to the file making it tnsnames.ora.txt.
but how to stop windows from appending .txt file to an .ora file???
