Installing Solaris 10 on HP ML370G5 server -No disks found

807559May 16 2007 — edited Mar 8 2008
I get no disks found.
There is no way to disable Smart Array P400 using ROM based settings which appears after pressing F9.
It seems the DISABLE option for P400 controller is removed.

Has anyone had success in disabling the array controller on ML370G5
server?

please help
thanks

You shouldn't need to disable the RAID controller, just add the P400 drivers to the miniroot during an interactive installation. Get the "Driver Update for Solaris 10 x86" from the link below.

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/1123_6214.html

Then, during installation, when you're presented with the options "interactive install, custom jumpstart, etc." select the option to install additional drivers.

While you're on the above page, get the NIC drivers, too, and install them at the same time.

Thanks I am able to run solaris now.

But the hardware RAID presents only one logical drive to the OS.
I want OS to see all the 6 disks so that i can configure software RAIDZ
on them.

Unix is mounting all drives to the same file system. Unlike Windows, that is mounting every drive on seperate file systems.

What RAID mode did you select? Maybe there is available all space from these disk drives on the main file system? If it is not so, it could be because of RAID configuration.

The RAID controller is combining all the 6 disks and creating one logical unit of 349GB which is seen by Solaris OS.

I want to configure RAID in such a way that Solaris sees all the 6 disks(72GBx6) separately.

on the system post on power up, you should see ORCA banner select F8
you should also make sure you have the latest firmware loaded as well
HP Smart Array verify which one you have http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00572169/c00572169.pdf ?
