Solaris x86 on Dell PowerEdge 6650

807559Jan 2 2004 — edited Feb 15 2004
I heard some users successfully installed Solaris 9 x86 on dell poweredge 6650, but they shared no info on how they did it. I am having an installtion problem. Dell does not support Solaris on the PowerEdge. The error message that I get during the installation is "No Hard Disk Found." Atcually this error message is a controller raid error. Can anyone out there tell me the web site and the full patch name for the perc3 raid controller that can help me resolve the Solaris 9 x86 installation problem. Any help will be greately appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,

Don't know if it helps, the HCL entry for the Dell PE6650 mentions something that RAID needs to be disabled:

I don't know whether this will help but if you Google for perc2sol.zip you will find a PERC 3 driver for Solaris 7 x86 - I haven't tested whether this driver will work on 9, as I haven't got a box with a PERC 3 lying around. The zip includes a driver disk for use during OS installation.
