    Sun Mibs and OID not working ?

      hi all

      i just upgraded all my Solaris machines with Net-Snmp

      (nb : i disabled sma/snmpd, and installed a fresh net-snmp, downloaded on sunfreeware)

      it's working fine.

      BUT, i'm trying to poll the Sun OID (which is, usually, .**) and i got nothing
      16:04:38 root@sps-dump-001 /: /usr/sfw/bin/snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost .
      SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.42 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
      is that normal ?

      i tried to install Sun MIBS (downloaded on sun website and google links) in agent's mibs directory, but it didn't change anything

      at least, the poll on the OID should gimme the good values right ?

      any help ?

      i can poll anything else, everything is working, but i "supposed" i could poll "Sun" particular datas, on Sun machines.

      perhaps i must declare something in the snmpd.conf ?!

      actually i'm running snmp v2c, but i'll be using snmp v3 soon (will implement rights and all)

      ps : i found this url : http://www.oidview.com/mibs/42/SUN-SNMP.html, which gives the same OID too.

      ps2 : my test machines are Sun-Fire V-series (v240 etc.)

          small add to my previous message :

          when i disable my new net-snmp, and i enable snmpdx/sma, i CAN poll the .42 ! :
          16:21:51 root@sps-dump-001 /: /usr/sfw/bin/snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost .
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = STRING: "/var/snmp/snmpdx.st"
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = STRING: "/etc/snmp/conf/snmpdx.rsrc"
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = STRING: "/etc/snmp/conf"
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = INTEGER: 38021
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = ""
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = INTEGER: 240
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = INTEGER: 999999999
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = INTEGER: 2
          SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises. = INTEGER: 1
          Error: OID not increasing: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.
           >= SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.
          16:21:59 root@sps-dump-001 /:
          so i suppose there's something wrong with my "new" snmpd.conf, or the files or flags used when the net-snmp was compiled ?
