Why do you want your broadcast address to be 10.255.255.255. Thats not the correct broadcast for your subnet based on your netmask.
Maybe you need to change your netmask...
Actually in my organisation vlan is configured with 10.205.XX.XXX 255.255.255.0 if i use 10.205.42.255 broadcast ip, i only communicate with 10.205.42.xxx network. i need to communicate with 10.205.xx.xxx network.
Which still sounds like your netmask should be 255.255.0.0.
