The [Maintenance forum|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=834] may get you more eyeballs.
I am running solaris 10 on a NIS slave server(sparc) it is a T1000 when I log in from a remote console via the options tab > remote login at the workstation login screen I login as a regular user. Open a terminal window run the su command become root and the try the smc command and get the following error:
It appears you are attempting to run the graphical
Solaris Management Console from a terminal which does
not have a suitable 'DISPLAY' environment. Please check
your 'DISPLAY' settings and that the user identity of
this terminal has access to the X server of this display.
The weird thing is I can log in the same way to my NIS master(sparc) that is running solaris 9 and
everything works fine. Any help would be extremely appreciated.
That being said, if you're not using SunMC for system monitoring, you should really look into it: as it can "see" a lot of things other tools can't (i.e. [status of your hardware|http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=194]) and it has lots of addons available for [application monitoring|http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/a-z.php] as well.
