Hi
I have a fairly clean WIndows 7 (64) install, but when I tried to load SunMC
(having added java to the path) I get the initial screen, and clicked continue

then get:
The install wizard cannot proceed
Aborting installation now...

What have I missed?

Well, the official answer is it isn't "supported" on [anything newer than XP|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/deployment-72?a=view], but that doesn't mean it won't work (I've seen people run it on strange versions of Linux, OS X etc). It's probably just the installer that's broken.

If possible, install it on an older/different system first, then copy over the files to your Windows 7 box (it will be in C:\Program Files\SUNWsymon by default). Inside will be the SunMC4.0\Console\es-console.bat file that actually runs things. Edit the top of that bat file to point to your version of Java and it should "just work".

I don't have a Win7 system to test it for you, please post if you get it working so the rest of the world knows too! :)

    Thanks!
