Clean Install Solaris 10 05/09 - Update Manager Fails with Valid Acct

    807567
I have a clean install of Solaris 10 05/09, and Update Manager fails to register using a valid accout which I can login with at the Sun website. Why is this happening? How can this be fixed?

I see that the hostname is reporting as 'unknown', if the system is unable to resolve its own hostname, then this may cause registration failure. If registration still fails, we would need to see some logs to determine the cause of the failure, so can you tar up the latest versions of the files

              /tmp/basicreg<timestamp>.log
              /var/cacao/instances/default/logs/cacao.0

Then upload it to us by using the supportfiles website, /cores directory and let us know the filename once completed.

Ok, so how do I change the hostname because everything I've tried editing, as soon as I reboot it reverts back to 'unknown'.

Also, how does the hostname being 'unknown' give me the error of "Your login information does not match a valid Sun Account. Please try again." when I enter my credentials in the Update Manager wizard? My Sun Account is valid and works to login to the site.

                Thanks,
                Dennis

So after quite a bit of searching, I managed to get the hostname permanently changed, but I still get the same error message, "Your login information does not match a valid Sun Account. Please try again." when I enter my credentials in the Update Manager wizard. Any ideas?

                  Thanks,

I can see the following error in the basicreg log:

SEVERE: Error: login account exception: No valid and not-expired token exists for this user.

This suggests that some maintenance is required on your Sun Online Account to rejuvenate the token, you can contact the sunsolve team to do this, sunsolve@sun.com.

Alternatively creating a new Sun Online Account and attempting a registration after 48 hours may work around the issue.

Well I took your advice and sent an email to sunsolve@sun.com describing the problem. I got an email back from them a day or two later saying that my account can now be used. I tried registering both the new install I had made and a new VM I created also to test with, but I'm still getting the same result on both. I emailed sunsolve@sun.com back stating that I'm still getting the same error message when trying to register and have yet to recieve a reply. What is the problem with the registration process? This is very frustrating.

                          Thanks,
                          Dennis
