    Blank Popup in UpdateManager Solaris 10

    807567
      Hi , I've around 20 machines in my lab which are SunBlade 1500 and running solaris 10. While running the update manager I'm getting the pop up window with empty string and only exclamation mark. I've gone through the other forum topics and as a solution I checked the java version also which is 1.5. I also update the files

      /usr/sbin/pprosvc
      JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
      To:
      JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"

      And in /usr/bin/updatemanager, if you use it (around line 37):
      Change:
      JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
      To:
      JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"

      But still no effect .

      After running suc.sh , I get the following message in one of my machine.

          I get this too. Please fix.

          When I do a smpatch analyze I get

          Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve current.zip: You are not authorized to access this service.

          What's going on?

            I also get this same problem with just installed new Solaris 10 u7 in IBM x3650 system. My old Netra Solaris 10 sparc system still works. Has anyone found any solutions?

              Having checked your suc.sh output you posted you are downrev on a number of patch manager patches.

              Please manually download and install the following patches from SunSolve

              121081-08
              121118-16
              123893-15

              There is currently an issue being investigated which is causing some Sun Online Accounts to be locked out thus causing the authentication error seen.

              Please try resetting your Sun Online Account password. If this does not cure the issue, we would suggest to create a new Sun Online Account and attempt to re-register using the sconadm method. without using your support contract number if you have one. This is to ensure that smpatch is working correctly.

              If you have a support contract we would suggest that you raise a support case. If you have not already done so.

                What a CF this is.

                Are our old accounts gone now? I had to make a new account just to reply to this thread. A little heads up would have been nice.

                  I added my new username to the root/RegistrationProfile.properties file and still says authentication failed.

                  Is there some way to get the registration wizard back? Is that any different than sconadm?

                  fyi: sol10 u7 just upgraded. This problem existed before the upgrade though.

                    It is possible you let us know the Sun Online Account username ?,
                    Do you have a Contract number ? let us have your IP address
                    (proxy, firewall IP, if used) ?

                    Please also supply the output of the command:

                    # /usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -g cns.assetid

                    We are working to resolve this.

                      No contract..

                      This is on a x2200 m2 an Ultra 20m2 and a Blade1000.
                      The x2200 m2 and the Ultra 20m2 are both updated to the newest sol 10. The Ultra 20 was a clean install the x2200m2 was a liveupgrade.

                      Here is that output from cns.assetid on the x2200

                      ga2APGBLyZqWEbGjmcHRQewn6+s=

                      http://bio2.elmira.edu
                      The outside connection is a little fuddled since the machine is internal. I can't remember what the outside ip is but you can simply traceroute it I guess.

                      I also have the ipfilter set to only allow a couple of ports access and ICMP is blocked.

                      two sun online user names.. kjard_us (had for a few years) and the new one dkjar@elmira.edu

                                  This option is pointless.. as this is what I get when I try to download these patches:

                                  SunSolve Software Update (Patch) Access - Our records indicate your online access does not include this product

                                  You are experiencing restricted access to this Software Update (Patch) because Sun's records indicate that you do not have
                                  a Support Contract or a Software Subscription which covers the product you are attempting to access.

                                  To resolve this issue you can:
                                  * Select "Change Contract" and enter a valid Support Contract, Sun Service Plan or Software Subscription number, which has this product listed as a line item

                                  * If you do not have a Support Contract or Software Subscription for this product, you can purchase one... Please contact your local Sun Sales Representative for further information

                                  ========

                                  I think rather than paying the ridiculous price of $324 for a basic support contract for Solaris 10 or the same $324 for basic OPENSolaris support, maybe its time to totally give up on Sun, throw some (form of) linux on my x86 boxes and ebay my SPARC boxes.

                                  Question: Why won't Sun offer a hobbyist price plan? Something in the range of $75 - $100 per year? I'm floored at the price for OpenSolaris, it seems almost as Sun wants Solaris to fail.

                                    You should only get that message for patch 121081-08 as it was for a feature of the toolset (now EOL) which was only available to contract customers. The other two patches should still be applied.
