Sun Update Manager problem in Solaris 10/08

Since installing Solaris 10 x86 10/08 on my AMD Sempron system, Sun Update Manager doesn't work. It starts and gives me a "Warning" window with no text and a yellow triangle icon with an exclamation point. That's it. This worked fine on this box in the last Solaris release.

Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Please run the suc.sh script i have attached to this post and then paste the output into your reply so we can have a look at how Update Connection is configured on your system.
    Thanks

    There seems to be issues with java 1.6, As a temporary
    workaround you can edit the following files to prevent Java from using
    anything other than JDK 5:

    /usr/sbin/pprosvc
    /usr/bin/updatemanager

    Change the syntax:

    From:
    java -version:1.5+

    To:
    java -version:1.5*

    This should ensure that the version of Java used is 1.5 and hopefully allow
    both smpatch and updatemanager to run 'normally'.

    Hi , I'm getting the similar issue. I've around 20 machines in my lab which are SunBlade 1500 and running solaris 10. While running the update manager I'm getting the pop up window with empty string and only exclamation mark. I tried to check the java version also which is 1.5 and also update the files

    /usr/sbin/pprosvc
    JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
    To:
    JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"

    And in /usr/bin/updatemanager, if you use it (around line 37):
    Change:
    JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
    To:
    JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"

    But still no effect .
    After running suc.sh , I get the following message in one of my machine.

    I'm having the same issue and fixing both mentioned files did not fix my problem. I've already sent in the output from showrev -p and suc.sh script on case # 71137356.

    I 2 have been getting this very similar issue, i have tried the
    /usr/sbin/pprosvc and /usr/bin/updatemanager
    "+" to "*" with no success.

    smpatch analyze

    either returns

    Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve detectors.jar: You are not authorized to access this service.
    or
    Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve current2.zip: You are not authorized to access this service.

    i'm at a loss as to how i can resolves this issue.......

    kind regards

    Hi
    Were you able to fix that problem? I'm having the same issue even after changing
    /usr/sbin/pprosvc
    JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
    To:
    JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"

    and
    JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
    To:

    I don't know what else to do.

    The issue encountered here may be related to a backend issue that is affecting a limited number of user accounts. This is currently being treated as a high priority but unfortunately it is taking longer than expected to fix.

    Re-registering systems with a brand new Sun Online Account may workaround the problem for now.

    Hello,

    I have the same issue. Creating additional accounts and re-registering servers didn't solve the problem. I'm still getting message:

    Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve detectors.jar: You are not authorized to access this service.

    or

    Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve current2.zip: You are not authorized to access this service.

    We hope that the bug will be fixed in the next couple of weeks. We will let
    you know once it is resolved.
