        Hi,

        Same problem with Solaris 06/06 SPARC and German locale.
        Tried the tip from pumadompteur and changed the locale from de_DE to en_US - and everything works as expected. So this seems to be a good workaround (Thanks, pumadompteur!).

          Hi,

          one additional detail of what happened during the failing registration process:

          At the last window before registation starts the information which will be transmitted to the database is shown. In the field where the locale is displayed the value was a comma-separated string in this form:

          deiso885915,deiso885915,deiso885915,deiso885915,deiso885915,deiso885915

          It might be that the locale string is too long for the database field. That would match with the error message from cacao.0

          cu

            Thanks for finding a workaround and providing the details. We will take this information on board and update this thread further when we have any further updates.

            In the meantime can all other affected users also try the workaround (change locale to English) and post the results on this thread.

                    Hi Gunnar,

                    my /etc/defaut/init looks like this (just the lines that are no comments):

                    TZ=Europe/Berlin
                    CMASK=022

                    Maybe this is helpful for you.

                      Just installed 2 systems with Solaris 10 6/06 on SPARC having the same problem. Not just x86 obviously. Registration is VERY slow compared to previous Solaris versions and in addition downloading patches is almost unbearable. Seems our systems are connected to a host at 198.232.168.136 on port 443. For my 6/06 x86 I commented out all references to LANG and LC* in /etc/default/init, rebooted and could today successfully registered the system.
                                Without contract I can now see and download security patches.

                                For my Solaris Express 10 5/06 x86 that I couldn't register yesterday I did a retry now.
                                locale C and register was successful. But I can't see any patches. maybe that OK for Solaris Express.

                                Yesterday it must have been some problems with the servers. I got timeout, error messages about I need internet etc.

                                  Same results here...

                                  Still getting the error message.

                                    RJD1010, can you describe exactly which error message you are getting because there are several variants of the registration type error messages?

                                    Note that Gunnar_Gustafsson has said that he no longer gets the registration error message after commenting out references to LANG and LC* in the /etc/default/init and rebooting.

                                    Are you registering using the GUI or sconadm? Can you try both ways and let us know the results.

                                    Please also post the uncommented lines of your /etc/default/init file.
