Providing the upgrade provides backout information for the patch 119059 -46 then you should be able to revert it back. However, this could cause inconsistencies and potential issues with any other packages that have dependencies on the -46 revision which would possibly also need to be backed out.
Thank you for the info. However, is there any way of finding out if the backout info for the base level (-46?) patch is provided with the upgrade? I need to know that before I go down this road. If no backout info is provided, then I can't apply the old patch.
I fully realize that installing the old patch (if that is possible) could create problems and instability with the new OS.
We have been unable to confirm that the patch has backout information from the install media.
It would be recommended to use a virtual machine to install 11/08 and test whether you can back out the patch. It would also enable you to test whether your application would work using the newer version of Solaris and the higher revision patch potentially negating the need to backout the patch in the first instance.
