I am trying to determine the appropriate location to store certificates which will be used by any user on my system to verify digital signatures on files that are sent to it. From what I have read about storing certificates in the DSEE it should only be done if you are storing certs that your users are going to use to authenticate themselves to external entities, or if you are going to act as a CA, neither of which I am doing. In my scenario I am going to be given a signed file by someone else who has a certificate signed by some other CA and when they give that file to me I need to verify the signature on it with a certificate that I has been pre loaded on my system. My question is: Is an LDAP the appropriate location to store these types of certificates or not? My impression from what I have read is that an LDAP is NOT the place to put certs for this type of scenario.
