I auto-answer me after getting the answer.
In this kind of problems you have to make use of this sentence:
sed s/+466/-n+466/ j2sdk-1_4_2_04-linux-i586.bin > j2sdk-1_4_2_04-linux-i586_fix.bin
so you fix the checksumming problem of the file and you can use it.
The 466 number is the number of the line that gives you error.
Then you only have to put
to install j2sdk
Answer found in http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/unable-to-install-j2sdk-1_4_2_04-linux-i586-bin-error-tail-cannot-open-%60-466-a-512244/
It is much easier than that.
The Sun j2sdk install script is just using obsolete tail syntax.
Tell tail to use old syntax:
$ chmod +x ./j2sdk-1_4_2_04-linux-i586.bin $ export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209 $ ./j2sdk-1_4_2_04-linux-i586.bin
