Go to your gris_home/bin directory and run ./crs_stat --everything is probably down
run ./crs_start to start the cssd then
$ srvctl start asm
$ srvctl start database -d databasename
check ./crs_stat again and make sure everything is up
In a non-RAC environment (10g and 11g) the ocssd.bin process is used for communication between a database instance and the ASM (Automatic Storage Management) instance.
The Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server is the Oracle software that provides system support for an Oracle database including volume management, file system, and automatic restart capabilities
*. If you plan to use Oracle Restart or Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM), you must install Oracle Grid Infrastructure before installing your database.*
Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server is the software that includes Oracle Restart and Oracle ASM. Oracle combined the two infrastructure products into a single set of binaries that is installed as the Oracle Grid Infrastructure home. Oracle Grid Infrastructure should be installed before installing Oracle Database 11g Release 2.
Question: Did you install the Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server?
So you are saying install oracle grid(software) in one of the mount point to configure ASM and then install oracle database software in another mount point to create database on non-rac node right....???
ocssd service will up when i install grid software.. hope i m getting you.
Thanks and Regards,
Yes.. This is new in Oracle 11g R2 you can not configure the ASM in database installation, to use ASM you must install the Grid Infrastructure.
The service level of the host (ASM and Listener) must be configured in the Grid Infrastructure.
