logging by email account

807574Mar 29 2004 — edited Feb 20 2020
Hi,
has Messaging Server 6.0 any possibility to authenticate by
email account ? For instance if I have an user "test" with email
account "mytest@mydomain.org" and want to read mails, I must
login as "test@mydomain.org" into pop3 or webmail. Is there a
possibility to login as "mytest@mydomain.org" ?

"login" implies UID, not "mail address". The only way to be allowed to log in as "mail address" would be to have your UID and mail address the same.

That's how all mail servers that I know about work, not just our Messaging Server.

Thank for you answer, but look at this:

I want to log in using email, so email-account=uid:

/opt/SUNWcomm/bin/commadmin user create -D admin -F support -n mydom.cz -L support -l user_support -d mydom.cz
-w administrace -W support -S mail -E user_support@mydom.cz

but I get:

FAIL
invalid value for the attribute name uid: user_support

Usually 'commadmin' allow me to create users with simple
( without special characters ) uids. How can I solve this problem? We are migrating from qmail and have a lot of clients
that want to log with email into pop3 and imap service and their
mail account have form name.surname@domain or name_surname@domain

UID is not allowed to have some special characters, including "@", "/", "&", "*"
