Reverse Proxy Server

Hello,
I'm trying to set up a reverse proxy server. I created the URL mappings and verified that everything works as long as I configure my browser to use the proxy server.

I expected to be able to set the browser to not use a proxy at all. I can't expect an outside client to set his browser to use my proxy server, can I? Shouldn't the reverse proxy server behave as an origin web server and simply direct the client requests to the real web server?

I tried creating a listener socket but it appears that this only works with a forward proxy. I would have thought that the port number I specified in the URL mapping would be listening for incoming requests from the browser. I verified by using netstat that there was no such port in LISTEN mode.

I read the Administrator's guide and did extensive searches on Google to no avail. I would really appreciate a little help with this.

Regards,
Bob
