          Please try this and let us know if it worked:

          Modify the appropriate .ini files to pass the -Xrs as an argument to the JVM.

          .ini Before:
          ------------
          service_num_vm_args=1
          @ //service_vm_arg1=java.compiler=NONE
          service_jdk_version=jdk1.3.1
          service_jdk_dll=jvm.dll
          service_vm_arg1=ORBdisableLocator=true

          . ini After:
          -------------
          service_num_vm_args=2
          @ //service_vm_arg1=java.compiler=NONE
          service_jdk_version=jdk1.3.1
          service_jdk_dll=jvm.dll
          service_vm_arg1=ORBdisableLocator=true
          service_vm_arg2=-Xrs

          This appears to be a very well known & documented bug in Sun Java 1.3 - see @ bugs 4401654, 4323062, 4358808 in the 1.3 buglist at http://java.sun.com - Any Windows NT Service embedding Java VM aborts when user logs out. There are numerous bugs detailing this behavior there. The Sun docs state the -Xrs command-line option must be passed to the JVM.
