    How can i not print a zero value to the output file (pls see code)

      Range ranges[] = {new Range(8,27),new Range(0,2),...............};
      String dataEl = input.substring(ranges[j].getLow(),ranges[j].getHigh());
           if (dataEl != null && dataEl != ??????)){
      I want to omit printing datEl which has zeros to the output file along with dataEl which has null values.

      what i need to write in place of questions marks in the if condition .

      And we dont know the length of the dataEl .
