    ReCaptcha plugin

    raoul
      Hi all,

I installed the reCaptcha plugin and placed it as an item on my page.

The reCaptcha only shows in Google chrome, sometimes in Internet Explorer and never in Firefox.

      Can anyone help me?

Simple rule here, when you post an issue/problem, please include the following:

          APEX Version
          Database version
Sample code if possible showing the issue..

Also, have you tried contacting the author of the plugin?

          Thank you,

            Hi Raoul,

does it work for you on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=654321:205:0 ? Or is it already broken for you there as well?

Do you have installed the Firebug add-on for Firefox? Does it show any JavaScript error when you render the page?
Do you have access to the Web from Firefox? Maybe it's a proxy issue in this browser. If you open http://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/js/recaptcha_ajax.js in Firefox, does it return anything?

            Regards
            Patrick

                Hi Patrick,

It owrks for me on the given link.

The ajax.js link brings me to a page where I just see code.

And Firebug does not give me any errors.

Now something else happens. After reading your post I tried opening the page in firefox and the recaptcha appeared but the image with the text did not get displayed. I got the error: "Input error: Invalid referer".
So I tried opening it in google chrome and got the same problem there. and last I tried opening the page in internet explorer and there it displayed perfect.

Now I was suprised. So I tried firefox again, but this time nothing appeared, chrome nothing also and then explorer also no recaptcha.

This is very weird and now I'm out of options.

I do have to mention that I do not have a domain name for my development environment, so I just put my IP adress to get my recaptcha key. Maybe thats the problem. I'm gonna try registering a domain for my development environment.

                  Hi Raoul,

                  I'm the author :-)

That's good if you see the code, I thought that your browser might not be able to get that script.

I don't know if the registration of the IP address is the problem, couldn't find anything in the FAQ's of http://www.google.com/recaptcha, but just test your environment, does the example on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=654321:205:0 work with all your browsers?

                  Regards

                    Hi everybody!
Is there any solution for this threat?
I tried to use the plugin and I'm getting the following error when I submitted the page :

                    “Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /apex/wwv_flow.accept.
Reason: Error reading from remote server".

I configured my proxy server at application level but I still getting the error.
                    Any help?
I'm using apex 4, and a XE db.

Your XE might not be setup to handle the external processing that is used by the plugin. You MIGHT have to look at your ACL's..

Follow your passion; the rest will take care of itself.

                          Hi,

I forgot to tell you before that the error doesn't show up everytime I run the page (that’s basically the reason why I think my ACL's are working ok)

                          I ran the following query:

                          select * from dba_dependencies where referenced_name IN ('UTL_TCP','UTL_SMTP','UTL_MAIL','UTL_HTTP','UTL_INADDR','DBMS_LDAP')
                          and owner not in ('SYS','PUBLIC','ORDPLUGINS');

and everything seems to be in order with my ACL's.

Is that the correct stament to check my ACL's status?

If so, do you have any other idea's?

Then you initial posting was incorrect.. You should be MORE complete in saying it happens on occasion... Maybe setup debugging on your page to see what conditions are causing the error to occur?

                            Thank you,

Tony, my first post was incorrect indeed.

I will do as you suggested.

I'll let you know about it.

                                Hi All,

I just installed reCatcha plug-in in one of my APEX apps (V 4.1). Even if I type the words correctly, I just keep getting the error 'Incorrect value for reCaptcha. Try again.' I tried so many times. Not sure how to resolve this.

Same error in IE, FireFox and Chrome.

                                Can someone please help?

                                Thanks

                                Radhika

                                  Hi Radhika,

have you followed the installation & configuration steps as outlined in readme.txt ?

In particular ("Request your public and private key" and "This plug-in makes a HTTP request from the database ....")?

                                  Regards

                                    Hi Patrick,

I believe I followed all the instructions. Just checked with our network guys regarding proxy server settings and we don't use any.

My APEX page seems to recognize the plug-in as I get new set of words each time I refresh, just that it is not validating the words I enter correctly.

Don't know what else to check. Do I need to customize the plug-in PL/SQL code? Any ideas? Please....

                                    Thanks
