    ASCP Data Collection Fails

    706771
      Dear Members :

For sake of learning, ATP in R12.1.1 Vision instance, I created a simple ATP rule with Demand as Sales Order and Supply as PO, On-hand Available.
I followed all the steps as below:

      1) After creating ATP rule and attaching it to the order mgmt tab in item master, enabled ATP at the org level.

      2) created sourcing rule for that item and assigned it to an assignment set(Supplier Scheduling).

      3) This assignment set appears by default to MRP:ATP assignment set profile option

      4) Set INV : Capable to Promise to ATP/CTP based on collected data, at responsibility level

      5) Include organizations to instance TST(default)

      6) Run ATP Data collection Program.

RCS is errored out with User-Defined Exception (Source Setup Objects Creation Requests did not complete Successfully) along with Collection Triggers/Views errored out with
      Error with creating Source Triggers/Views

Is it my setup problem or patch I need to apply, if you could please guide ?

      Thanks in advance.

First of all make sure you have all required patches.
List of High Priority Patches for the Value Chain Planning (aka APS - Advanced Planning & Scheduling) Applications [ID 223026.1]

You can also try setting the profile option "MSC: Source Setup required" to Yes and then running the data colleciton.

          Hope this helps

            Sandeep:

Thanks for your pointer. This is a fresh install directly from e-delivery and no patches applied (as a matter of fact, I don't know also how to apply patch). MSC: Source Setup required is 'Yes', BTW.

So I guess, I must assume that without patch, I can't make this beast running, right ? If you could please provide some URL about basics (for novice), how to apply patch on R12 - do appreciate it very much.

            Thanks again.

If the profile is already set to Yes, then as soon as DC is launched, you will see a ton of requests getting spawned. Have they completed with any error? What are the details of the error(s) if any?

Check Hussain's post in the following thread for details on applying a patch

That's correct Sandeep. As I mention in my first post, out of scores of spawned requests following are lines in red (top2bottom):

Collection Triggers =====================View Log==> Error in creating Source Triggers
Collection Views =======================View Log==> Error in creating Source Views
RCS =========================View Log==> User-Defined Exception, Source Setup Objects Creation Requests did not complete Successfully
ATP Data Pull =========================View Log==> Error in Refresh Snapshot process
                  ATP Data Collection (Report Set)

I tried running RCS only in which case Collection Triggers, Collection Views, RCS are in red with same messages.

                  Thanks.

                        Hi Sandeep :

I am new to Oracle Apps but have exposure to other ERP packages, in past.

[1] Is Oracle Apps so vulnerable that with every run, it produces scores of invalid objects ?

[2] Is this not like saying, my C program fails to run becoz of bad parameters means, I need to recompile my C program ?

[3] Seems I am at mercy of technology, instead of concentrating on my business need; I mean, how come a package requires patches so often and for so trivial business needs ?

[4] I installed R12 about 2 months back, when # of invalid objects was 15 (can't get it reduced further) now it stands at about 800 - what does this mean ?

[5] JSP pages are so slow and kind of weired design.

If I am wrong, could you please rectify me ? Is there any silver-lining in Fusion release or is it also based on all PL/SQL packages, which gets invalid every now and then ? I have respect for Oracle Database, but in my attempt to learn Oracle ERP, somewhere I am getting frustrated - as if technology is driving me. Thanks for your clarifications, in advance.

                        Regards.
                        Atanu
