Creating application server connection to remote host fails

I have installed soa suite and jdeveloper to windows xp machine, can create and use application server connection to local machine. Have installed soa suite and jdeveloper also to linux machine, also there creating application server connection works.
But while trying to create application server connection from xp jdeveloper to linux environment, get following error when clicking Test Connection button:
      Testing JSR-160 Runtime ... failed.
      Cannot establish connection.
      Testing JSR-160 DomainRuntime ... skipped.
      Testing JSR-88 ... skipped.
      Testing JSR-88-LOCAL ... skipped.
      Testing JNDI ... skipped.
      Testing JSR-160 Edit ... skipped.
      Testing HTTP ... success.
Testing Server MBeans Model ... skipped.
      Testing HTTP Authentication ... success.

      2 of 9 tests successful.
Have tried ip address and fully qualified host name as weblogic hostname, firewall is not on. Can access admin console & enterprise manager by browser from xp. Added already linux machine to xp hosts file.

      Any idea what to try?
      Does jdeveloper write log somewhere?

My jdeveloper is Studio Edition Version, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660.

      regards, Matti
