Hello,

I am running analyzer: Sun Analyzer 7.6 Linux_i386 Patch 126994-01 2007/07/31 this simple program and I get this message:

user@maqchine:~/ejemplos$ collect ./helloworld
WARNING: Linux-64-bit, 8 CPUs, Ubuntu_10 system mimbre is not supported by the Performance tools.
WARNING: Data collection may fail: system is not properly configured or is unsupported.
Creating experiment database test.2.er ...
Segmentation fault

I have used sun compiler and the program is:
The program is:
/* Hello World program */

#include<stdio.h>

main()
{
printf("Hello World");
}

Anyone has any idea?

Thanks

    The Analyzer depends heavily on low-level system details, which can vary among Linux distributions, and even among different releases of the same distribution. That is the reason why we support only a limited number of systems. Various components of Sun Studio, including the Analyzer, might run well on an unsupported system, run poorly, or simply crash.

    Analyzer 7.6 is part of Sun Studio 12, released in 2008. The supported Linux systems for Studio 12 are rather old:
    SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 with Service Pack 3
    RedHat Enterprise Linux 4
    More details are here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19205-01/820-2063/

    Oracle Solaris Studio 12.2, the current release, supports newer versions of Linux,
    SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
    RedHat Enterprise Linux 5
    Oracle Enterprise Linux 5

    Please download and try our latest release - Oracle Solaris Studio 12.2. This version has Performance Tools (collect, analyzer, ...)
    that support newer Linux systems. Let us know the result. If you still see a problem, please, file a bug or send me a test case.

    Thanks.

    Please, note that Ubuntu 10 is not officially supported, but I think our
    latest version works better on Ubuntu 10 than SS 12 or SS 12.1.
    Here is the list of officially supported Linux distributions:

    OEL 5 (Oracle Enterprise Linux 5),
    RHEL 5 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5),
    SLES 11 (Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11).

    If you have access to any of the supported versions, could you, please,
    try to reproduce this problem on any of them?

    Thanks.

    I reproduced this problem with SS12 today on our Ubuntu 10 system
    and verified that "collect" from Oracle Solaris Studio 12.2 works just fine.
    Please let us know if you have a problem using OSS 12.2.

    Thanks.
