So what do you expect the data bytes representing sound to look like?
When i read about wav files and its structure I got to this page:
In that page it shows the data subchunck and the data value in hex, therefor I expected that it would show the data value in hex (or binary) when I printed it in Java.
Instead when I print the data it shows it like this: ?‚h?O‹?ֲת¨?תLל?Y›ֹװx?Eˆ?ְֲ,¿?ncתr?
Is that how the does is supposed to be displayed?
I would appreciate an explanation if my expectations on how the data is supposed to be displayed were wrong or, if not, why it displays the data in gibberish.
Bytes are not characters so if you want to display the bytes in Hex then YOU have to convert them to hex. http://commons.apache.org/codec/ has a free library for doing this.1 person found this helpful
