    How to decide

      dear experts?

      how u can decide how many organizations you need in a project? and how many operating units you need for an project?

          This not an easy question because each client's situation is unique. It takes an in-depth study to understand and model a client's organization structure..especially if the client is not accustomed to think in terms of orgs , operating units, set of books, legal entities etc. A lot depends on if the clients locations/business are tightly controlled or if they are autonomous.

          So these are thumb rules - they should be modified if your situation is atypical.

          Your plants/distribution centers should be modeled as inventory orgs.
          Your distinct business units (such as one that produces plastics toys and the other that makes sugar) should be separate operating units.
