System error occured when trying to edit IT Resource in OIM 11g Console

    OldGuy
We have installed OAM 11g with the follwing:
OS: RHEL 5.5 with 64bit Intel
      DBS: 11gR2 (11.2.0.1)
      RCU: 11.1.1.3.3
      IDM: 11.1.1.3
      SOA: 11.1.1.3
      WLS: 10.3.3
      IDAM: 11.1.1.3

In the OIM 11g console, I select Manage IT Resource, press the search button to retrieve all resources (only 1 -- the one created curing installation -- Directory Server), press edit and a popup displays that "A system error occurred. Contact the Oracle Identity Manager System Administrator". I cannot delete it and cannot click on the resource's link after it is retrieved.

          Can you provide the log?

I assume you were referring to the oim_server1-diagnostic.log?

From the point at which "Edit" was pressed until the stack trace began (it was very long):

Are you able to make the modification using the design console rather than the web ui?

Is this a normal install, or did you copy any parts from other environments? When you get errors regarding the encryption, it's almost impossible to fix the issue without reinstalling.

We are a RHEL install so we did not include the design console since it is windows. This is a new install. We are not using any components from any other server or install and all the components are installed on this server only.

Are you saying that if this is the case (my reply) that we must reinstall? Any idea what causes the issue with the encryption?

I've seen those errors when environments are duplicated and they dont copy the .xldatabasekey and try and wipe all the encrypted values and then fill them in again. I've also seen that with incompatible java versions.

We have determined that the issue with not being able to modify the IT resource was due to the fact that the LDAP Sync process set the values in DEV_OIM.SVP to plain text and did not encrypt the values. We copied the table (just in case), set those plain text values to null, we were then able to modify the IT resource (which was Diretory Server), reset the values, saved the values, and now they are encrypted in the db and we can access the IT resource page.
