We had this problem about a year ago. Trying to join a secondary server to an array, we receive the following message javax.naming.CommunicationException: ErrTransportPermanent . No answer as to how it was corrected, but we were finally able to join the server into the array. Last evening we ran the 0214 Solaris 10 Recommended patch cluster, the problem has reappeared.
Have checked the host files for IP FQDN SHORTNAME , consistant across the servers.
Also checked /opt/tarantella/var/serverconfig/local/bootstrap.properties , consistant across servers, all showing the FQDN of each server.
NTP checks are consistant, 2 servers in EST the other 2 CST.
Strange in that one of the servers joined into the array is on the same subnet with the same configuration as the server giving the error.
Any thoughts ?
