versioning war file

hi all ..

so the requirement is to create a page in a j2ee application that will show statistics like what version of the app is deployed.

e.g. we have our own application versions like v8.0 .. v8.2 .. v9.0 etc. so if a new war file is deployed say v9.5, what is the standard way of showing the version on a jsp page in the application?

thanks

There really isn't a mandated standard on how to do this but there are quite a few ways you can tackle this problem.
You could put the version in a properties or xml config file, or even web.xml or manifest.mf file. Some just put it in a version.jsp file which is tied to their version control system so each time it gets checked out and build, the version is incremented.
