I have quarter rack configuration.
Just wanted to check whether i can install any additional Hardware components or software components on either Exadata storage servers (cells) or on exadata db machines ?

I am just done with my initial exadata installation.

    Hi,
you cannot install anything on the cells, but you can do so on the db nodes.
Hardware side, no modification is allowed on either system.

Just to ensure we're positively clear, you can install additional software on the DB nodes.

No hardware modifications are permitted on any component in the database machine (except replacement of the gigabit switch if you like).

No software modifications or additions are permitted on storage cells.

    Thanks for the quick update.
    So, to be clear :

On DB Side : NO HW installation allowed (except switches), but SW can be installed
On Cell side : Neither HW nor SW can be installed ?

    Am i correct ?

On DB Side : NO HW installation allowed (except switches), but SW can be installed ==> to be more clear on this only certified software's can be installed on exadata database server else you may loose the warranty.

On Cell side : Neither HW nor SW can be installed ? ==> Correct.
