          Hi Vamsi ,

A FAL request comes into picture when there is a delay in network . Coordinate with your network team and find out if there was any network issues . Monitor the same and see how frequently you are getting this error .

          Regards

            Hello Vamsi,

Check whether the listeners are running in both servers.

Check whether FAL_SERVER and FAL_CLIENT parameters point to the correct TNSNAMES entries.

What are the associated error messages, if any from the alert log and from the query from standby,
            select message from v$dataguard_status
            Thanks & regards,
            Mahesh.

              Hi,

This ORA-16055 error occurs due to several reasons, so instead of going to solve it better go with solving the below error " FAL archive failed" .

Please view the parameter log_archive_dest and the problem might me archived log is not available for some reason, so the process can not see the file and cannot get it across to the standby site.

And also check the tnsname on the production server.

              Thanks,

              Balaji K.

                  Hi,

We are having the same issue with archive shipping. The sync between and logical standby on windows 2003 32-bit went stale. When I check the status from V$ARCHIVE_DEST, log_archive_dest_2, it is showing an error----"ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel". I started to enable the log shipping from primary but it doesn't help. All we find in the primary db alert.log are as below. We are on oracle 11.1.0.7 on windows 2003 32-bit. The only recent change we did was to apply latest windows patches.

Let me know if you have any solutions.

It seems to be network issue, please check with your network time.
Meanwhile try to ping 'CAMD' server from primary server and check the status.

                                Reactivate the failed destination.
Reactivate the failed destination by resetting the corresponding destination
state to ENABLE (default). The following will manually reactive a failed
destination that does, or does not have a specified REOPEN value.

                                For example:
                                SQL> alter system set log_archive_dest_state_n = enable

Designate a REOPEN value for future destination failures.
REOPEN is an attribute of a LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter defined in the primary's
init<SID>.ora file. The REOPEN value designates the amount of time (in seconds)
that must elapse before an archivelog operation will attempt to archive to a
failed destination. If a failed destination has no REOPEN attribute value
specified in the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter, then no further attempts to
archive to it will be made, and user action is required to manually reactivate
the failed destination, as described in step 3 above. The following will not
reactivate a failed destination. It will designate a REOPEN value for use
should the destination fail in the future. It's a good idea to have a REOPEN
                                value set.

                                SQL> alter system set log_archive_dest_n = 'service=XXXX reopen=120'

If a REOPEN attribute value is already set in the primary's LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n
parameter, errors against this particular _n destination will be cleared, and
automatic archiving to the destination will continue with no user intervention.

I did that yesterday exactly what you have mentioned with "REOPEN=120" but it doesn't help. I was checking the status of dest id: 2 from v$archive_dest but it was still showing the "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" error.

                                  Thanks,
                                  Venkat

Is there any Oracle internal errors like ORA-00600 or ORA-07445 in alert log file (both the databases)?
