Sounds like the wrong JRE for the platform.
I wouldn't waste time or space hosting the JRE download yourself. Let Oracle do it.
We have to accommodate the users who dont have jre installed or don't even know what jre is - they just want to download the installer and install the app.
I understood that. You didn't understand me. You don't need to host the download yourself when Oracle are already doing it for you free.
Johnny_hunter wrote:Isn't it obvious? The installer is trying to untar a file that is not tarred in the first place. Of course that will fail. I'm guessing the installer wants the JRE to be tarred and probably also gzipped (so it gets a .tar.gz extension).
ERROR: untaring JRE was unsuccessful
Do anyone know what could be the problem?
gimbal2, your guess is correct. Actually install4j provided a jre with tar.gz at users disposal, which I didn't noticed. The one I tried was downloaded from java's site or their autodl link, which is a exe or cab file, which can't be untarred.
Thanks to both responders.
