What is the use of ASSET NUMBERS in FA?
The Fixed Asset module uses asset_numbers to keep track of those assets that are become part of the company's financial statements such as Balance Sheet. FA uses them to keep track of the amount spent in building/procuring the assets, depreciation and residual value of the asset etc. An example is laptops purchased by the company OR an machine purchased to build a new product line.

is there any link between FA asset numbers and EAM asset numbers ? Must be same both?
No - there is no system link between the two. FA asset numbers are completely separate from the EMA asset numbers. It is possible that some EAM assets also appear in the Fixed Assets module but there is no rule that every EAM asset exists in FA or vice versa.
e.g. The laptop may not be an EAM asset since there is no maintenance activity against it but the machine may appear in EAM.

    Hope this answers your question,
