Extract X509 certificate using Java without client authentication

Hi, I am working with certificates.

How would I extract a browser certificate using Java?

request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate")
from HttpServletRequest will only work if client-authentication is active in glassfish/jboss. A reference from a blog is referenced below.

I don't want glassfish to prompt me for selecting a browser client certificate (the p12 file). But I want those certificates imported in the browser to be available in the ServletRequest for me to extract using java's request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate").

Thanks in advance.
