do we first run adconfig.sh first on dbTier ?Depends on why you need to run AutoConfig. The common practice is to run AutoConfig on the database tier node then on the application tier node. If you create appsutil.zip file, then you run AutoConfig on the apps tier node, generate the zip file, then move it to the database node and run AutoConfig.
. adconfig.sh contextfile=/opt/oracle/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/PROD_proddb.xmlUsually, we run adautocfg.sh script to run AutoConfig. If adautocfg.sh script is missing/corrupted and/or you need to enable AutoConfig on a new ORACLE_HOME, then use the command above.
when we run this on appsTier
which file to select from these two ?The first one.
Please refer to (Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 387859.1]) as this doc answers all your questions.
i have followed this action plan given in SR by oracle
i upgraded OUI version by p6880880_111000_Linux-x86-64.zip.
1. shutdown immediate;
2. startup upgrade;
3. @?/rdbms/admin/utlirp.sql (/opt/oracle/db/tech_st/11.1.0/rdbms/admin/utlirp.sql)
4. shutdown immediate;
5. startup restrict;
6. @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp (/opt/oracle/db/tech_st/11.1.0/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql)
7. Shutdown immediate;
8. Startup for normal operations
but after this action plan APPS user is getting locked again and again.
after this i have to apply apps patch p11696069_R12.AP.B_R12_GENERIC.zip
Currently there are 53 invalid objects in database (apps), when we try to compile these objects apps user gets locked.

1. can we run adautocfg.sh on dbTier and appsTier while services are up and running or do we need to shutdown services ( db or apps or both ) ?
