I can understand pain you have to convience customer to use self service pages.
1. Write custom codes to copy records from existing line
2. Use Excel Automation to populate data on self service page.
For my client, we used both approaches wherever applicable.
For example, raising a Work Request we used Excel automation (with all mandatory details ported from Excel to Self Service pages) and for Work Order flow, we built custom codes to ease copy/ paste functionality.
