After installation you need to load the Spreadsheet Add-in. You do this from Excel.
You can also try unregistering and registering again the Spreadsheet Add-in.
Are you getting some error message? Was this working before?
Yes, I loaded the add-in together with in2hyperion add-in.
Now I tried unregistering and then reregistering the add-in, did not solve the problem.
No error message what so ever.
Can't have worked before since its a clean install (my first ever).
If essbase service is running and the Apps\Dbs are started, which you verified when connected through Smart View, then Excel Add-In should be able to connect as well.
The other factor you have is Smart View but the only issue with Smart View and Excel Add-In installed on one computer has to do with compatibility.
My only guess is a possible missing Essbase Add-In, in Excel, which you already verified.
Try restarting Excel or even restarting the client where you are running Essbase Excel Add-In.
Sometimes addin just loses track of itself.
disable Essbase Addin
close excel (make sure all instances of excel are closed)
try to connect.
Seems as if there is something fishy with the Essbase Java API, can this cause trouble for the Add-in?
When using the foundation diagnostic tool I get:
FAILED SVR: Essbase Java API Launch external checker with next command: C:\Oracle\MW\user_projects\epmsystem1\config\validation\188.8.131.52\launchEssbaseJavaAPI.bat EssbaseJAPIConnect admin ****** xxxxxxxx:****** http://xxxxxxxx:13080/aps/JAPI
Error: EPMVLD-01011: Result at EssbaseJAPIConnect.main(EssbaseJAPIConnect.java; Error message: 19)
Recommended Action: Make sure external checker is working.
When I try to launch that path manually I get: "The system cannot find the path specified."
I got it working by just reinstalling the add-in.
