    Oracle 11g installation fails

      Hello All,

      I am trying to install Oracle 11g R2 in Cent OS 6 , when i try to install i get the following error message and the installation fails.Can any body help with this issue.

          No such file or directory. Might some of the files missed. Have you run debug before installation?

            Thanks for you reply , i did not debug before installation, can you please explain me how i am suppose to do that .Advance thanks for you reply

              CentOS is not a supported distro - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e16763/pre_install.htm#CHDFFBIF - so things may or may not work as expected.

              Use Google to find posts where others have attempted this install and blogged about it.

                Hello;

                I used several versions on Linux but not that one.

                That said the error :
                libXext.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
                Resolution : Install the libXp package

                So you are missing at least one of the "extra" packages needed for an Oracle install.

                I found some posts that make me believe Cent 6 isn't quite ready for Oracle 11 :
