(I'm sure many do, but as individuals, not as a part of their job.)
As such, you may not ever get a timely answer here.
Go back and make contact with whoever is the support person of record on your S.R.
Ask to speak with their supervisor.
That is how you escalate a support case and get "an extra.set of eyes" on it.
The solution could be as simple as there is no more functionality at a Sun-dot-Com URL and you need to be told how to modify the patch process to point to an Oracle URL.
I have the same problem.
