Currently, we have a C/S setup with an ISDK based custom DMS. It uses the Blueprint WSDL to communicate with AV server for certain functions.
New requirements and Oracle recommendations are to move to the Desktop Deployment model.
The DMS component is a VueLink servlet based component and as mentioned above, we have web service calls to AV server. How do we move/integrate this DMS component into the DD environment since the AV server is now embedded. If you have an example or document showing how the Filesys example you give in the ISDK would be ported or how you would do a Documentum(ie Third Party) integration with DD it would be appreciated.
In addition, will DD support collaboration features?
The exploration with DD is to reduce infrastructure requirements from the current deployment scenario. Glassfish is currently the recommended addition to deployment for the DMS component(again, Oracle previous recommendation ).
We were told by Oracle that DD had certain feature sets that were worth considering the move.(Local and native processing increases. Better scalability, etc.)
From the DDMigrationGuide.pdf from the DD docs(pg 7):
"Customers who are currently using AutoVue Desktop Version *+are strongly recommended to consider+*
migrating to AutoVue Desktop Deployment in order to take advantage of these advances today and
future innovations going forward."
That's why we are exploring. I am open to any counterpoint to this recommendation. My biggest concern is that we have a custom DMS integration component that we have to analyze the value of migration.
If you would like to private message me and you are from Oracle, I can give you the names of the individuals so you can speak with them. They have the details of the discussions up to this point.
