No the physical standby needs to be the same version.
You can have a higher version on a logical standby but not a physical.
No is my understanding.
You can perform a Rolling Upgrade :
See "12.6 Performing a Rolling Upgrade With an Existing Physical Standby Database" of Oracle doc E10700-02
Step 8 Perform a switchover states "Both databases must be running the higher version of the Oracle software".
Could I create Standby on version 184.108.40.206What?!?!? 220.127.116.11 is out now?!?!
The documentation says the compatible parameter needs to be the same between primary and physical standby database.... so, they can run at different patchset levels, but must have compatible set the same.
Help me understand how a statement about the compatible parameter means you can run a Data Guard setup using an Oracle Database Release and Patch Set that are different.
