system not booting, getting "unable to qualify my own domain name"

System name : sun ultra 24
version : solaris 10
I am not able to login to the system. System is not booting completely. Getting below error at the boot time.
sendmail (354) : My unqualified host name (india) unknown ; sleeping for retry
sendmail (353) : unable to qualify my own domain name.

please do the following in your /etc/hosts file
find the line containing the hostname,
and add your hostname again with a dot as a last char
example for hostname india
188.8.131.52 india india. loghost
and restart the sendmail process : kill -1 <sendmail process num>
