I have seen that if the target system does not know how to reverse map the IP address of the incoming host, the telnet login will hang. Do you have the IP address of the XP system in the /etc/inet/hosts file of the Solaris system? Or have DNS properly configured so the reverse IP mapping occurs?

Reverse lookup is happening in the solaris server. The server is resolving the IP to the hostname without any issue. How to check the reverse lookup in DNS server?.
Its started connecting to the server after changing the IP(static) of the xp client. Really appreciate your help.
