Upgrade from XE10 to XE11

Hello,

i tried to do this as described:

EXPORT:
mkdir /usr/lib/oracle/DUMP_DIR
chown -R oracle:dba /usr/lib/oracle/DUMP_DIR

DUMP_DIR=/usr/lib/oracle/DUMP_DIR
export DUMP_DIR

/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/sqlplus sys/<passwd> as sysdba @gen_inst.sql

/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/sqlplus sys/<passwd> as sysdba @export_data.sql

expdp system/<passwd> full=Y EXCLUDE=SCHEMA:\"LIKE \'APEX_%\'\",SCHEMA:\"LIKE \'FLOWS_%\'\" directory=DUMP_DIR dumpfile=DB10G.dmp logfile=expdpDB10G.log
expdp system/<passwd> TABLES=FLOWS_FILES.WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ directory=DUMP_DIR dumpfile=DB10G2.dmp logfile=expdpDB10G2.log

export_data.sql:
CREATE DIRECTORY DUMP_DIR AS '/usr/lib/oracle/DUMP_DIR';
GRANT read, write ON DIRECTORY DUMP_DIR TO system;
QUIT

This worked, the files are generated.

IMPORT:
mkdir /u01/app/oracle/DUMP_DIR
chown -R /u01/app/oracle/DUMP_DIR
chmod 640 /u01/app/oracle/DUMP_DIR/*.dmp
chmod 644 /u01/app/oracle/DUMP_DIR/*.log

DUMP_DIR=/u01/app/oracle/DUMP_DIR
export=DUMP_DIR

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/sqlplus sys/<passwd> as sysdba @import_data.sql

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/impdp system/<passwd> full=Y directory=DUMP_DIR dumpfile=DB10G.dmp logfile=expdpDB10G1.log

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/impdp system/<passwd> directory=DUMP_DIR TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPEND TABLES=FLOWS_FILES.WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ dumpfile=DB10G2.dmp logfile=expdpDB10G1b.log

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/sqlplus sys/<passwd> as sysdba @install.sql

import_data.sql:
CREATE DIRECTORY DUMP_DIR AS '/u01/app/oracle/DUMP_DIR';
GRANT read, write ON DIRECTORY DUMP_DIR TO system;
QUIT

After the two impdp commands i got two errors:
ORA-39006 internal error
ORA-39213 Metadata processing is not available

What's the solution?

Best regards
AK

    Hello Achim,

    this has been a known problem for a while. Try the following workaround in the target instance:
    connect / as sysdba
    execute sys.dbms_metadata_util.load_stylesheets;
    ... and repeat the import afterwards.

    Hello,

    thanks for your fast reply.

    I got an error on missing "kudvrlm.xsl" and that's right,
    i don't have this file. I had zip-file from XE10, but this "kudvrlm.xsl" is missing.

    Where can i get this missing file(s)?

    best regards

    AK

    You can get it (in fact, the entire xsl directory) from another 11gR2 installation on (doesn't matter which edition or OS):

    <ORACLE_BASE>\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\rdbms\xml\xsl

    So i can install 11gR2 with a test installation on WIN7 64b without having a license?

    Hello Achim,

    I'm sorry I hadn't tested this before on XE - it was the workaround suggested by MOS to solve that problem. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any xsl on my 11.2 XEs either. It seems to be some missing part similar to a few others reported in the beta forum, e.g. {thread:id=2204216}, {thread:id=2217556}
    I had expected these missing parts to be there in the final release, but apparently, there are still some gaps.
    So the only option left for the moment would be, as suggested by Etore, to take it from some other 11.2 release.

    P.S.:
    So i can install 11gR2 with a test installation on WIN7 64b without having a license?
    The OTN license allows you to install any release for evaluation and development purposes.

    Of course, not without a license.

    Before downloading you may enter a license agreement, see e.g. Downloads index page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html

    +"... most come with a _Developer License_ that allows you to ..."+

    Read the OTN Dev license to find out what you can and can't do with the software.

    Hello,

    ok, i did that:
    Installation WIN7 prof 64b, Installation 11gR2 standard.
    Now i have 179 XSL-Files.

    Should they copied into the path before or after oracle-xe configure ?

    Best regards

    Hello,

    I'd try to put them into the path without running the configure again, but just issue the command to load the stylesheets. If this doesn't work something else is missing and it probably wouldn't be worth the effort to start over with the whole instance...

    Hello,

    i tried to do it again:
    copy the xsl-files to $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/xlm/xsl

    SQLPlus
    execute sys.dbms_metadata_util.load_stylesheets;

    and got an error on missing file "kupostdt.xsl"

    Where is this file located, i don't have it.

    Do i have to reinstall 11gR2 with enterprise option?
    I did a standard installation.

    ii searched around the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory

    what about:

    @/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql <- this will call the next two ones, please read the comment in catproc.sql
    @/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/admin/catdph.sql <- Datapump header
    @/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/admin/catdpb.sql <- Datapump package body

    I will try that tomorrow.

    This file must exist on rdbms\xml\xsl directory. There are *180* files on xsl, not 179.
    Should they copied into the path before or after oracle-xe configure ?
    As I said earlier, after XE installation, just copy entire xsl from another oracle home to the same location on your XE home then run dbms_metadata_util.load_stylesheets as sys.

    You don't need to install or configure nothing again, just copy and run.

    Hello Etore,

    i did the following:

    sqlplus sys/ as sysdba @catproc.sql
    sqlplus sys/ as sysdba @utlrp.sq
    spooled it to a log

    this will call "sys.dbms_metadata_util.load_stylesheets"
    Error on mising file "kuaqtab.xsl"

    Which installation type of 11gR2 is required?
    I did standard.

    Standard Edition is ok.

    Did you copy xsl directory from this SE to your XE home ?

    Hello Etore,

    i did it again:
    WIN7 prof 64bit
    Oracle 11gR2 64bit Enterprise Edition

    $ORACLE_HOME/RDBMS/admin/xml/xsl: 179 files

    And yes, i copied these files to XE home.

    Again:
    sqlplus sys/ as sysdba
    exec dbms_metadata_util.load_stylesheets;
    ORA-31609: error loading File "kupostdl.xsl"
    ORA-06512: at DBMS_METADATA_UTIL.LOAD_STYLESHEETS: Line 2397
